This article describes the handling of accommodation benefit in Procountor.
Accommodation benefit can be added to salary base as a recurring item. The correct amount can be calculated using benefit calculators, where necessary information can be provided for automatic calculation. Another option is to add accommodation benefit to the salary slip as salary type and determine the unit value for the salary type row manually.
Benefit calculator: Accommodation benefit
Benefit calculator can be found in Payroll > Employee Register > Choose employee from the list and click Edit Salary Base button > Benefit calculators > Accommodation benefit.
The value for current year's benefit can be calculated using Procountor's benefit calculator. The up-to-date values determined by Tax Administration will be updated to Procountor for each year, once they've been published.
Accommodation benefits yearly value can be calculated using Procountor's benefit calculator. The yearly values are updated to benefit calculators when the Finnish tax administrator has confirmed and published them.
Only the value for current year's accommodation benefit can be calculated with the benefit calculator. The calculator enables calculating a benefit starting in the past or the ending in the future, but benefits cannot be added as salary rows if they're not effective.
There can be more than one Accommodation benefit rows in the calculator at the same time, but only one can be effective at a time. In other words, dates on the benefit row can’t be overlapping.
In the benefit calculator, fill in all the information required for calculating the benefit and click on Save. Once the information is saved, Procountor will generate a value for the benefit in Benefit value field and the benefit can be added to the employee's salary base using button Add as a salary row.
New calculation button adds a new benefit row in the calculator. Fill in the required information for the benefit (such as starting and ending dates, region and floor area). The calculator generates a value for the benefit based on the details provided.
Copy calculation button copies the chosen benefit as a new row and Delete calculation button deletes a benefit from the list. Benefits that have expired can be left in the list, as long as there’s an ending date determined for them.
Add row to salary base button adds the saved benefit as salary row to the salary base. Only rows that are effective can be added as salary rows. Once the benefit has been added as salary row to the employee's salary base, it will appear on the new salary slips that are created for the employee.
Salary type: Accommodation benefit
If the value for accommodation benefit is already known, the benefit can be added as salary row to the salary base by selecting Accommodation benefit salary type from the salary type register. Please note, that when doing so, all the details concerning the benefit need to manually filled in on the salary row. Also possible changes in the value of the benefit need to be updated manually.
Accommodation benefit salary type is added to employee's salary base through Add row to salary base button. In the salary types register that opens, select Fringe benefits as Salary category to narrow down the search. Then, select Accommodation benefit in the search results and click on Add row to salary base button found above search results.
Reporting the Accommodation benefit
Procountor supports supplementary reporting method (2) and therefore salary type Accommodation benefit is automatically allocated to Incomes Register's income type 301 (Accommodation benefit).
The value of the benefit is reported in the earnings payment report.
