Profit report is an accounting report that can be selected from the Accounting Report Type drop-down menu, located on the Accounting reports view. To access this view, either select Reporting > Accounting reports, or Accounting > Accounting reports from the main menu. The Profit report is available only for the general chart of accounts; i.e. environments with real estate or association chart of accounts do not have the Profit report available.

To generate a profit report, at least one financial year must be created in the environment. Financial years can be created on the Financial years view, located in Management > Accounting info > Financial years. If there are no financial years, selecting the Profit report will show the following notification:
If at least one financial year has been created, selecting Profit report will open the following type of window for specifying the search criteria:
- Financial year: select the financial year for the report from the drop-down menu. This list contains all financial years created on the Financial years view.
- Period: select the month from which you want the report. The period must be entered in the format YYYY-MM. By default, the period is the month preceding the report creation date. For example, if the report is created on August 5th, 2021, the default report period will be 2021-07.
- Dimensions: select the dimensions to view the report by dimension. If there are no dimension item created in Dimensions, the Dimensions drop-down menu will not be visible in the search criteria.
- Items: select the dimension items. To select multiple items, hold down the Ctrl button when selecting items.
- Budget type: select either Basic budget or Dimension budget from the drop-down menu to view the budget. If no budgets have been imported to the environment, it cannot be selected from the Budget type drop-down menu.
- Budget version: select the budget version if several different versions of basic budget or dimension budget have been imported to the environment. If no budgets have been imported to the environment, it cannot be selected from the Budget type drop-down menu. Next to the budget version's name the budgeted period is shown in mm/yyyy - mm/yyyy format.
- Format: select whether to create the report in HTML, PDF, or Excel format.
- Language: select either Finnish, English, or Swedish as the report language.
- Show information selections determine whether the Profit report will include income statement, key figures, and/or balance sheet information.
- Numbers in thousands: if selected, the numbers on the report will be shown in thousands. The number 1 000.00, for example, will be shown as 1.
- Number of decimal places: sets the decimal places on the report figures to either zero, one, or two decimal places.
To generate a profit report, click OK. The report will open in a new tab.
The number of columns on the profit report depends on the selected search criteria. In the picture below is the maximum number of columns when the report includes budget details:
- Total 7/2021 column shows the numbers for the month selected in the Period field.
- Budget 7/2021 column shows the budget details for the same month.
- The name of the Budget column is determined by the imported budget version which is chosen in the Budget version drop-down menu. In the example picture, the imported budget version name is in Finnish, therefore the column is also in Finnish.
- Comparison 7/2020 column shows the comparative numbers from the same month of the previous year.
- Cumulative 1/2021 – 7/2021 column shows the cumulative numbers from the beginning of the financial year to the beginning of the selected month.
- Budget 1/2021 – 7/2021 column shows the budget details from the same cumulative period.
- The name of the Budget column is determined by the imported budget version which is chosen in the Budget version drop-down menu. In the example picture, the imported budget version name is in Finnish, therefore the column is also in Finnish.
- Comparison 1/2021 – 7/2021 column shows the cumulative numbers from the corresponding period of the previous year.
- Forecast 1/2021 / 12/2021 column shows the forecast for the selected financial year. The forecast combines the actual numbers (1/2021 – 7/2021) of the selected year to the budgeted numbers for the remaining year (8/2021 – 12/2021).
- Budget 1/2021 – 12/2021 column shows the budget for the selected financial year.
- The name of the Budget column is determined by the imported budget version which is chosen in the Budget version drop-down menu. In the example picture, the imported budget version name is in Finnish, therefore the column is also in Finnish.
- Comparison 1/2020 – 12/2020 column shows the numbers from the previous financial year.
